Our Healthcare Auditor Training is a five-day in person course designed to equip you with the essential knowledge and skills to conduct audits against the Health and Disability Services Standard NZS 8134:2021 and Quality Management Systems.

The auditing of health services in New Zealand requires people who have experience working in the health sector; audit teams include a diverse range of people including:
- people with lived experience of disability
- people of all cultural backgrounds
Course Content
The overarching objective of this course is to provide participants with the knowledge and skills required to perform audits against either:
- a Quality Management System
- Ngā Paerewa - Health and Disability Services Standards NZS 8134
- other aligned health standards or
- contract specifications for the provision of health and disability services.
The course includes:
- An understanding of quality management and risk management systems
- Interpreting standards
- Planning and preparing for audits
- Audit practices - in order to have confidence in the audit results
- Teamwork and roles
- Audit reporting
- Audit follow up.
Unit Standard 8086 - Demonstrate Knowledge Required for Quality Auditing
The training programme has been designed to include Unit Standard 8086 as required by the Ministry of Health for auditing Health and Disability Service providers in New Zealand for the purposes of Certification. It provides the first steps towards becoming a lead auditor.
Course Facilitator
Marushka Caldeiro who is the Lead Trainer is a registered Lead Auditor and an experienced educator in nursing practices and auditing. She has fifteen years experience in auditing the health sector and eight years experience in auditor training.

The course fee is $2,800.00 plus GST and includes: course documentation; course delivery; registration of NZQA credits, lunches and refreshments.
Course numbers vary and the course will run if there are 7-10 participants registered. As soon as this number has been reached the course will be finalised or a decision made up to two weeks out from the course if this has to be cancelled.
